Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Residential Therapist/ Case Managers are responsible to provide assessments; treatment planning; and individual, group, and family counseling. They are responsible for taking part in staff meetings and Therapeutic Team meetings to aid in the overall treatment of the clients. In addition to this, the Residential Therapist is responsible for tracking the daily needs of residents, being an advocate for the residents, and communicating with parents. Within these responsibilities, a Residential Therapist will represent Jesus Christ through servant leadership by utilizing and implementing biblical precepts, scripture, and prayer into daily life and counsel. This will require consistent pursuit of God through interpersonal relationships, accountability, consistent church attendance, and daily personal devotionals.

Counseling Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completion and timeliness of all necessary assessments, plans, and notes for each resident (i.e. Initial Assessment, Initial Service Plans, Clinical Treatment Plans, Service Plans, etc.).
  • Provide individual, parent, family, group therapy to clients as deemed necessary.
  • Be on call for crisis assessments and to issue suicide watch precautions, when necessary.
  • Ensure that resident counseling files are maintained to state standards.
  • Attend and give input into both House staff meetings and Therapeutic Team meetings to aid in the effectiveness of treatment. Also participate in Case Management issues.
  • Establish friendly, professional relationships with residents and parents.
  • Provide educational opportunities for staff in the form of staff trainings, etc.

Case Management Responsibilities:

  • Keep track of important dates and make available to the Therapeutic Team. (i.e. parent visits and potential discharge dates).
  • Develop and maintain a friendly professional relationship with parents.
  • Contact parents in a timely manner to report progress or any incidents that may arise.
  • Be a resource person for parents to answer questions about their youth.

Report Writing Responsibilities:

  • Complete and submit weekly reports by the appointed time.
  • Complete Incident reports and include in client files.
  • Complete Discharge Summaries and Outcome Measure Forms.
  • Complete Child Satisfaction sheets.
  • Complete contact notes from conversations with parents.
  • Complete clothing vouchers.

Special Needs Responsibilities:

  • Inform staff and schedule doctor appointments, including providing or arranging transportation.
  • Serve on the Therapeutic Team and provide input for each resident.
  • Coordinate with the staff on the intake process.
  • Secure proper resident documentation, from marketing, prior to entrance into the program.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities

  • Fill in at various times for the on-line staff, when needed.
  • Perform any other miscellaneous duties, as assigned by the CMA Director including participation with students during activities. These activities may include: beach trips, horseback riding, hiking to waterfalls, community service projects (building houses, ghetto outreach, remote village evangelism, orphanage play, etc), athletic games, special events, white water rafting and obstacle course.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Personal relationship with Christ
  • References attesting to lifestyle consistent with Christian faith
  • Masters degree in social service field (with ability to get licensure)
  • Excellent counseling skills and the ability to help people deal with identified issues
  • Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Excellent people skills
  • Must pass all background checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with at-risk youth
  • Bi-lingual with Spanish
  • Participation on mission trips
